Consumer 35K Limited Time Offer:
-Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express

Business 35K Limited Time Offer:
-Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express

This is a limited time offer scheduled to run until 03/30.  It offers 40% more points than the standard offer and there has never been a better public offer for this card.

The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year on both cards.

For the consumer card you will get 35,000 bonus Starpoints after spending $3,000 within 3 months. The terms state that if you have had the consumer card before you will not get the bonus for the consumer card again.

For the business card you will get 35,000 bonus Starpoints after spending $5,000 within 3 months. The brand new business card terms state that if you have had the business card before you will not get the bonus for the business card again.

If you have only had a consumer card you can get the points for business card and if you have only had the business card you can get the points for the consumer card.

———————————————————————————————————
Spending on the Starwood card and comparison to Freedom Unlimited.

The Starwood card remains a very good card for general spending.

While there are other cards with better bonus categories, the Starwood card is strong for general spending as Starpoints continue to be the most valuable mileage currency thanks to valuable hotel usage and the 25% bonus for transfers into dozens of airlines.

The upcoming Freedom Unlimited card will give the Starwood card a run for its money for everyday spending, but Starwood offers no foreign transaction fees compared to 3% for the Freedom Unlimited card. Starwood also offers far more airline transfer options, though it effectively earns 1.25 airline miles per dollar compared to 1.5 on Freedom Unlimited. On the other hand Freedom Unlimited will require that you either upgrade your card or have a premium card like Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Plus to transfer points into miles, while the Starwood card doesn’t have a requirement like that.

Starwood also allows members at the same address to transfer points between their accounts for free.

There are thousands of uses for Starpoints, some of which have been over 50 cents each for me at hotels, but I aim for a minimum value of about 2.2 cents per point and am happy when I’m able to exceed that level. It’s not hard to reach a value of that level at hotels and you can transfer 20K miles into 25K valuable miles from airlines like Aegean, Alaska, American, and dozens of other programs. If you are able to obtain a value of 1.75 cents from those airlines then that imputes a 2.2 cent value for Starpoints as well. The miles won’t sell on the grey market for that price, but miles are always more valuable when you use them yourself for travel.

The Starwood card earns 2 Starpoints per dollar at Starwood hotels, or a 4.4% rebate at a value of 2.2 cents per Starpoint. It earns 1 Starpoint per dollar everywhere else, or a 2.2% rebate at a value of 2.2 cents per Starpoint.

———————————————————————————————————

Marriott merger:

Starwood is in the process of merging with Marriott, but it will be a while until the programs are merged. Marriott’s CEO has promised multiple times not to mess with SPG’s value proposition, but we’ll see what that means when the full details come out. At this point nothing is known and there are lots of possibilities. The programs could be run separately or either loyalty program could win out. Ideally they’d realize the passion that SPG members have for Starpoints and simply convert Marriott points into an SPG type of loyalty program with something like a 50% haircut in points for Marriott members. But ideally doesn’t always happen.

Will the SPG AMEX or the Chase Marriott card survive? Might both survive? Those are all questions we might not know answers to until next year.

Chase is also currently offering a limited time 87.5K signup bonus on the Marriott card. Of course Starpoints are worth far more than Marriott points and it remains to be seen how exactly and at what ratio they’ll be combined.

But in the meantime you can pickup the signup bonus on both limited time offers.

American Express Benefits and the annual fee:

The card also carries American Express’ awesome top-notch protections that are light-years better than any other banks. Most other banks always look for a way to get out, but that’s not the case with American Express.
-If you need to return an item up to $300 they will gladly refund you. Most of the time you’ll be able to keep the item, but if you do need to send it back the return shipping will be free.
-You get an additional year of warranty coverage and if you have any issue in the extended warranty year they’ll pay to have it fixed or refund your entire purchase price without a hassle.
-If you need to dispute a charge there’s nobody who makes it easier or as pain-free as American Express does. It’s the best in the industry by leaps and bounds and you can do it all online.
-If your item is stolen or broken within 90 days you’ll be covered.

See this post to see just how amazing AMEX benefits can be.

There’s no fee on the Starwood card for the first year and $95 thereafter though you can often get bonus points or account credits for keeping it open for additional years. If you cancel a card within 60 days of being charged the fee on your statement you will receive a full refund of the fee. If you cancel after 60 days you get a pro-rated refund based on how many months you had the card.

———————————————————————————————————
Spending $3K or $5K in 3 months:

You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.87% fee. The Starpoints are worth more than 1.87 cents each, so that’s a no-brainer if you’re trying to meet a spend threshold. If you overpay you can request a cash refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.

My local gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay. I used to prepay 5 months of rent on a my credit card (it’s easier in Cleveland where that’s just $800/month) for a $19 flat fee. You’d be surprised to see what you can charge to your credit card!

———————————————————————————————————

Sheraton Club Lounge Access:

The Starwood business card now gives free club lounge access when staying at Sheraton hotels.

There have been rave reviews of the Sheraton Club lounge in Tel Aviv for example.  If you have a Starwood business card you’ll get free access to it and its free food, beverages, and sweeping view of the Mediterranean Sea. A free night at the Sheraton Tel Aviv is 12K points, 6K points+$110, or 9.6K points per night on a 5 night stay.

———————————————————————————————————

Premium Internet Access:

With either Starwood card you now get free premium in-room internet at Starwood hotels. All SPG guests get free internet, but cardholders will now get the faster version for free.

———————————————————————————————————

Unlimited worldwide Boingo WiFi:

With either Starwood card you now get free unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi worldwide, perfect for avoiding confiscatory rates at airports when traveling.  Search from over 1 million hot-spots here.

Enroll for free Boingo access here.

———————————————————————————————————

Elite Status and Crossover benefits with Delta and Uber:

Just by having a Starwood card you earn Preferred Plus status.  This status earns you the right to checkout at 4pm at Starwood hotels and get upgraded to preferred rooms.

If you spend $30,000 in a year on either Starwood card you earn Gold status.  Gold status gets you more points per dollar spent at SPG hotels and a 250 point amenity on stays, even when redeeming points.  You can also get gold status for free with no spending requirement by opening The Platinum Card® from American Express or the The Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN

When you have the Starwood card you also get 5 elite qualifying nights and 2 stays for each Starwood card that you have that count towards earning Gold or Platinum status!

Starwood Gold and Platinum elites can also register here to earn Starpoints on Delta flights on top of the regular Delta miles in addition to other benefits while Delta elites can get benefits at SPG hotels.

And all members can earn bonus Starpoints for Uber rides as well after making a single SPG stay.

———————————————————————————————————
Using Starpoints:

Points are deposited directly into your Starwood account, so you do not lose your points if you cancel your card like you would with American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards points, or Citibank ThankYou points.  You do need to maintain some activity in your Starwood account every 18 months to keep it active, though Starwood is very good about reactivating accounts that have been closed due to inactivity.

Award nights count towards elite status. Gold members receive 250 points back and Platinum members receive 500 points back per stay.

How can you use your points?

1. Hotel award nights with no blackouts or capacity controls. If a standard room is for sale you can use points to book it:

spg2

2. If you book 5 consecutive hotel award nights at category 3-7 hotels then the 5th night will be free:

spg3

For example:
-5 nights at the category 7 blinged out S. Regis Bal Harbour is 120,000 points, still that’s not a bad value when you consider that the cheapest rooms during peak season go for more than $1,000 per night.
-At the category 6 ultra-modern W Hong Kong with a 76th floor rooftop infinity pool or at the breathtaking Le Meridien Bora Bora or Westin Venice would cost 80,000 points.
-5 nights at the category 5 Sheraton Kauai or the highly rated Sheraton Tel Aviv will be 48,000 points.
-5 nights at the category 4 Sheraton Big Island of Hawaii, Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach, Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort will be 40,000 points.
-5 nights at the category 3 Le Meridien Chiang Mai Thailand over an awesome Shabbos at the nearby Chabad House. would set you back 28,000 points. Same goes for the popular Sheraton Suites Fort Lauderdale at Cypress Creek or the Sheraton Mahwah near Monsey.
-The category 2 Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls Fallsview is just 3K points on weekends or 4K points on weekdays. Same goes for the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel near Lakewood, NJ.
-A night at the category 1 Aloft S. Jose Costa Rica or Le Méridien N’Fis, Morocco starts at just 2,000 points.

Click on the category links to explore other hotels that can be obtained for those rates.

3. Cash and points allows you stretch your points when reserving a standard room, upgraded room, or suite:

spg4

Starwood’s cash and points chart make expensive hotel stays cheap. Take the Sheraton at my hometown Cleveland airport for example. The rate there for tonight is $219+tax=$260. Using Starpoints you can either pay 4,000 points for a value of 6.5 cents per Starpoint. With cash and points a category 2 hotel would be 2,000 points and $35 cash for a value of 11.3 cents per Starpoint! A weekend night is just 3,000 points.

4. Nights and Flights allow you to combine a 5 night hotel stay and get 50,000 miles for less than the cost of booking a 5 night stay and transferring points separately:

spg5

In other words you can stay 5 nights at a category 4 hotel like the Sheraton Big Island of Hawaii or Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort and get 50,000 miles transferred into the airline of your choice for just 70,000 Starpoints.

When done separately that 5 night stay would cost 40,000 Starpoints and the airline transfer would cost 40,000 Starpoints.

5. SPG Moments allows you to  purchase or bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Starpoints.

Throw out the first pitch at a ballgame, watch the game from a suite, etc. Starwood will even cater their suite with kosher food upon request with no additional charge! People have done that at the US Open, Cubs, Knicks, Rangers, and more games.

6. Keep your eyes peeled for promotions like this 50% off promotion where I spent 5 nights in the S. Regis Bal Harbour for just 48,000 points.

You can currently save 35% off at select resorts.

7. Of course you can transfer your Starpoints into miles with dozens of airlines at great ratios. 20,000 Starpoints becomes 25,000 miles on dozens of airlines thanks to the 25% bonus.

Airlines also often incentivize transfers, like American did last year by offering a 50% bonus for transfersAir Canada and United also offered promotions last year.

Curious about the 34 Starwood transfer options and ratios? Here they are!

With so may different airlines to transfer to it’s just a matter of figuring out which one has the lowest rates to where you want to go. I’ve separated them by alliance so you can know which airlines are partners and will therefore let you book award travel on partner airlines. Of course airlines also have lots of non-alliance partners, but by definition they are partners with all airlines in the same alliance.

In parenthesis you can see if American Express Membership Rewards (MR), Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR), or Citibank Thank You (TY) points transfers to the airline as well.

OneWorld Alliance:
Air Berlin: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (No other transfers)

Thai: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (TY)

Unaligned:
Alaska (Partners with several airlines from different alliances): 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (No other transfers)
Emirates: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (MR)
Etihad: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (TY)
Gol/Varig Smiles: 20,000 Starpoints=12,500 miles (No other transfers)
Hainan: 20,000 Starpoints==25,000 miles (No other transfers)
Hawaiian: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (MR)
Jet Airways: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (No other transfers)
Virgin Atlantic: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (MR, TY, UR)
Virgin Australia: 20,000 Starpoints=25,000 miles (No other transfers)

Points can also transfer to Amtrak at a 1:1 ratio.

You can view the expiration policies for each transfer program here. Remember that points can only transfer from Starwood to an airline, they can never transfer from an airline to Starwood.

I don’t recommend using the SPG Flights or the SPG Merchandise/Gift Card programs as the value per point is way too low.

here you go new languages and higher sign up offers

Levi

Just got approved for this card two weeks ago. Anyway to get them to match the offer?

Dan

@Levi:
Call or chat and ask?

J

If I have had / have both a personal and business card and have had my wife as my secondary cardholder, can she now get both as the primary? Or because she had the secondary card already for both, she’s not entitled? thanks

Anonymous

Had a consumer one before and I have currently a business one fir spg
I don’t suppose I can sign up for second business one with my ss# and a different business name ?

Dan

@J:
She can get both as the primary.

@Anonymous:
I’m not aware of anyone that has tested the new business rules that just went into effect.

shauly101

which serve is best? (NYC)

Moshe

I had a SPG card like 10-15 years ago, I don’t remember if it was a personal or business, is there any way for me to verify?

Dan

@shauly101:
I use OneVIP.

@Moshe:
From reports on DDF, if it was that long ago you should be able to get the bonus again regardless.
Let us know how it goes.

Ben

If you have the business card for one business. can you still open up a new card for another business that never had it and get the bonus?

Anonymous

@eli: I’ve been following the site for 2 years, been waiting for a good offer, got the recent 30,000 point offer for the business for myself and personal for my wife. Now gotta do the opposite and earn 70,000 more points.
Thanks DAN

Toast

I currently have 1 personal and 1 biz card. I’m toast for this offer?

Dee

Hi, does the business card have a pull on my credit? would it be worth applying for another Amex at the same time?
Thanks

SPC

Applied less than two weeks ago for SPG 25k…tried to match as a one time courtesy and was denied. YMMV, obviously.

Oscar

Dan, how link lg will this offer be around? Cannot sign up at the moment

Abraham

If I have the consumer card, can I get the business card and have both cards linked to the same SPG account?

Dan

@Ben:
See comments 6/7.

@Anonymous:
Enjoy!

@Toast:
Find a spouse 😀

@Dee:
It’s just 1 pull if you apply for multiple AMEX cards on the same day.

@SPC:
Oh well.

@Oscar:
Read the post.

@Abraham:
Yes.

Moshe

I never had either of them personal or business. Is there any advantage of one over the other?

Dan

@Moshe:
They’re both great cards.
You can apply for both on the same day with 1 credit pull, so no reason not to try for that and get the increased bonus on both if you’re approved.

Moshe

Regarding authorized users, can I just make up 99 different names to get the cards for small business Saturday or do they have to be real people with proper social security numbers?

Amex benefits

FWIW, I’ve used the amex return/protection benefits in the past without much issue (never got close to the $ limit or abused the system), but over the past 6 months, I had maybe 3 claims for which I would get call-backs from amex to question the purchase details, one claim was heavily scrutinized and denied, and the others were approved, but only after substantial pushing on my end…

Dan

@Moshe:
I wouldn’t advise making things up.
You can just add yourself as an authorized user though.

Moshe

@Dan: I thought of that, the problem is the spending most of the vendors I deal with don’t accept Amex. It will be difficult to spend the full 8k in that time frame.

Dan

@Moshe:
Often they do, but they don’t want to because it costs them a bit more. If you push they may be willing to do it once though.

Don’t have any federal taxes to pay?

Can’t get a Serve card?

Sam

If I have an SPG business card, is it possible to open a new SPG business card for my wife on the same Business? As She’s also employd there.

Moshe G

@Dan: i do have a serve card how would that help? Btw let’s not get confused with the other Moshe 😀. Changed my name a bit.

Dan

@Sam:
Yes, that’s perfectly fine.

@Moshe G:
You get buy gift cards on the SPG card and load them onto Serve at Rite Aid.

Moshe Katz

I can make my self an authorized user on my own card several times over?

Dan

@Moshe Katz:
Yes.

Moshe G

@Dan: I live in NYC I don’t think that will work anywhere around here. Any other ideas?

Moshe

Thanks dan!

Anonymous

@Dan: plus I’m already stocked up with GC from the last staples sale😉

Chavi

I just tried getting a serve card and received this message-

Sorry, we are unable to approve you for an Account at this time.

Thank you for your interest in American Express Serve.

abraham

Thanks, Dan.
Similarly, If I apply for the SPG card in Canada, can I have both the US and Canadian card linked to the same SPG account?

Dan's the Man

Dan, Is FlyingBLue still the best program to transfer Starwood and Amex points to for Israel? They only charge 50K roundtrip from NYC and approx $200 in fees. I need 6 tickets so that is prob my best bet for only using 300K points, right?

sam

Dan, do you think if I signed up for the consumer card 3 years ago, and cancelled it just recently, should I be able to get another bonus? Wondering your opinion. Thanks!

Moshe

How does it work using a serve card to do the spending? I would purchase any gift cards sold in stores with my credit card and then load those gift cards onto my serve card and then pay my credit card bill? Do they have to be a specific kind of gift card?

Dan

@Moshe G:
Have you tried?

@Chavi:
Call them?

@abraham:
Yes.

@Dan’s the Man:
Aegean might be cheaper, it all just depends on availability.

@sam:
Doesn’t seem likely anymore.

@Moshe:
Search this site for Serve.

Cannuk

Thanks for this Dan. As a data point, I just got the Amex Biz card (with a 25k bonus) in January. I did a Webchat with Amex — they wouldn’t give me the full 10K for this new offer but did give me a goodwill gesture of another 3,000 SPG points. Best I could get…

Moshe

I searched and read about the serve card. You have alot written on it but i cant seem to find the basics. You write to load the serve card with a credit card. I’m a bit confused by that. Not sure what that means. Would you be able to explain that or show me a link to where it is explained. Thnks dan

Jack out of the box

I got this card last month but by chat they refuse to match the offer. She said they don’t do it for anybody anymore.

DOVY G

Can i apply for amex business as sole proprietor with SS and no EIN?

Moshe

Wow! Thanks! Gonna get both cards. Btw how would a friend of mine who is canadian be able to get this card. Also in General how would a canadian get american cards?

Moshe

I meant the spg card. How a canadian get the spg card or the chase saphire preffered card?

Anonymous

Under the old rules could you get the bonus twice within 12 months for the business card under two different businesses but same ssn?

Moshe G

@Dan: Dan, i tried to open for the business card and was declined for the following reason “According to our records, you currently have the maximum number and type of American Express Card accounts that we allow.”

Is there a limit of cards you can have with them? Any advise on how to fix this?

Personal application is still pending approval.

Curry30

Can I use a serve card to pay any credit card bill from any bank (Chase, Wells Fargo, etc.) or does it specifically have to be American Express cards?

Darren

April 3rd to 6th 2016 are $88 and up from LGA to MIA

ariel

By the way guys, don’t discount the Amex protection benefits, and their ease of use. Chase supposedly offers many of the same benefits, but their application is TERRIBLE. I just tried a claim with them, it took 3 weeks, I had to upload 6 documents, had to have diagnostics run on my device, and then they denied the claim on a triviality.

Shimon

Just applied for SPG Business Card 25k Bonus. Still in the mail. Not even activated yet. I called to ask to apply the offer and they said no!! Is there anyway to get around this?

Michelle

Hey Dan is there any benefit in getting the business one over the consumer card? I haven’t opened either one in the past.

Buki

Just opened one with your link! Its time for some new star points just used some for the W in Hollywood

Ymksa

@dan which card can you downgrade to from the spg which will have no annual fee? I tried in December and they told me that there was no such thing. Also, if I close my card will my points expire after certain period of time?

Caveat

@Moshe Katz: I’ve heard of stories of people having problems with certain banks,cuz they had 100’s of credit cards in their name from adding themselves as AU’s…

Big Fan

Can I open the Business Card even if I have no business? Also is there a foreign transaction fee on the business card? Would love a reply

SamJ

@Dan: @Dee: I applied now for the starwood Personal and 5 minutes later for the Amex EveryDay® Card. the website asked me to call in for a decision. the rep told me that the automatic system cannot approve 2 cards within 5 days, after 5 days the system will automatically process the application and email me a decision.

i asked about another credit pull, she said that there will be 2 separate credit pulls. quite disappointed…

Dan

@Michelle:
Why not get both?

@Big Fan:
These are answered in the post.

@SamJ:
Even if it does pull it twice, you can call Experian and they’ll take a 2nd pull off if its within a few weeks of the original pull.

etc

Can I transfer Starwood points to ihg?

Michelle

@Dan

I wouldn’t spend the 8K to open both. I would rather open the consumer card but if the business one has extra benefits I would open that one. Any advice?

yed

never had any of these, should I go ahead or wait for some better offer to come? after all its only once in a life time!
The same is for the business platinum & gold, just got targeted offers of 75k each in my amex platinum consumer account (which i’ll be closing this week before the $450 annual fee hits) should I grab them or wait for better offers, (I spent over 100k on my amex gold consumer, Is that a reason they might target me with a better offer?)
Dan I truly rely on your knowledge & experience…
Thanks

Dan

@etc:
No. Even if you could you’d be nuts to do so. SPG is worth 4x IHG.

@Michelle:
The business card offers lounge access at Sheraton.

@yed:
This is the best offer ever for this card. I would grab it.

yed

OK so I’m going for both SPGs, (Or you meant only one for now?)
How about the Business Plat & Gold For 75K Each? grb or wait?

Moshe Finkelstein

For all of you that have signed up for the spg b4 the recent Promotian of 35k spg like me,
I called a few times and they said they could not match it so I just called back and told rep I know they don’t match offers, however I was wondering if I’d b able to get some kind of courtesy for being an spg card holder, she put on hold said she can offer me 3,000 spg points as courtesy I asked if was possible t get some more by talking to supervisor she came back and said most she can do is 5k, try this just remember to speak very nicely for its in their power to get you courtesy

Jack out of the box
bob

if i canceled the spg 3 years ago do you think it is likely that i will be accepted with the offer? does it help that i live in a different address?

joshn

signed up and approved via your link!

etc

Clearly I need another brooklyn beginners seminar.

Josh

I just got a new ein number and I had spg business on my ss can I get the business offer on the ein?

Anonymous

Dan how many of us are eligible anymore since the once in a life time rule

b

do all hotels offer free club lounge for business card? is it even when booking with points?

anon

@Dan:
I have a credit card from the company that i work for
can i get this credit card under the company ( I have authorization) and get the points for me, the card user ?

Albert

What’s the point of this if starwoods being sold to Marriott and points will eventually be devalued?

Moshe G

When does the 3 months begin, activation date or date of application?

Sam

Got both cards, business and personal, but I did have to call in for the second card and was asked a bunch of questions why I needed both cards, and if it had anything to do with the 35K SPG points, then transferred to another department and asked a bunch of questions again. At the end they gave me both cards so I should have 80k miles in the next few weeks.

Thanks DD

Dan

@b:
All Sheratons.
Yes.

@anon:
It goes based on whether you are the primary cardholder.

@Albert:
Transfer the points to miles when a deval is announced.

@Moshe G:
Approval date.

@Sam:
Nice!
Should have 80K Starpoints when you’re done which equals 100K miles.

@Dan: I just signed up for both personal and business, was approved right away for the business, for the personal it said to call in. I called the rep told me you can’t get the signup bonus on both. Did Huca, second rep told me I could get it twice. Then after 2 hours I get a phone call from the second rep told me that his superviser told him you can not get it twice (business & personal) so he wanted to correct himself. Anybody with experience with this?

Dan

@Anonymous:
They’re clueless.

Anonymous

@Dan: I’m shocked your saying that, the 2nd guy called me back with word of a superviser. I guess will have to wait and see..

If I get approved after the 30th will i still get the signup bonus?

Wouldn’t be bad to get 166k SPG points at one shot. 😉

Dan

@Anonymous:
You will, good luck!

How many Amex Business cards I can apply at once?

Elan

Looking to fly to Israel from DTW in June 2017 using miles. Any recommendations to stock up on them? Will getting this Starwood card help me and for which airline?
thanks!

chuck

i have a delta amex with 7000 skymiles that i was offered to switch to amex spg.
@dan – what should i do?

Dan

@Shimon:
Depends on your credit.

@Elan:

@chuck:
You won’t get the signup bonus for that. Open a new Starwood card for the bonus and close the Delta card if they say that you can’t have both.

Mike

Is it reasonable to wait for a higher sign-up bonus next month, as the bidding war goes on ? After all you can only get one bonus in a lifetime.

Dan

@Mike:
I would be shocked to see a better offer than this anytime soon.

Plus at this point it appears that Anbang will win the war for Starwood and it may be a very long time before we see a 35K SPG bonus again.

@Moshe G: @Moshe, did you ever find out what the limitation is regarding number of Amex cards that prevented your approval for the SPG Business card? And did you get that overridened? I received the same message as you — “According to our records, you currently have the maximum number and type of American Express Card accounts that we allow.”

Dan

@Anonymous:
You can have up to 4 credit cards and unlimited charge cards.
You can call to close an old credit card to get approved for a new one.

Inexperienced points dud

Is there anyway to get the points by May 21st?

Dan

@Dan:
4 credit cards including Personal & Business? Is SPG credit or charge?

Dan

@Anonymous:
Yes.
SPG=Credit.
Charge cards are Green, Gold, Platinum, etc.

akiva

I applied and was approved or the business card today, will it make a separate credit pull if I apply for a persona?

Dan

@akiva:
It shouldn’t, but even if it does you can call Experian to have it removed.

ayid

any chance with a credit score of about 715 ?

akiva

@Dan thanks
#followinglinkstosupportthesite

Dan

@a yid:
Yes.

@akiva:
Thank you!

akiva

after applying for the personal I was prompted to call cs, they told me that the application was put on hold for 5 days by the automatic system for my protection because it sees I applied already today fo a different card. does that mean it will make a separate pull on my credit?

Dan

@akiva:
Even if it does you can call Experian to have it removed.

Chaim

When I clicked on your link to apply, they asked if it’s for a new or existing business (my Amex account was open in a different link). Is it better to apply as a new business or one of my existing ones?

Hi Dan, if we spend $3k today do we get the points right away or is there a holding period like 90 days or something?

Mosfo

I just applied for the Starwood personal and business using two browsers within seconds of each other.in was approved for the personal however I got a message to call for the business, and they told me that it came up as a duplicate application,and to wait five days.

Wonderin...

Had the SPG card like 15 years ago. Any way to know if I will still get the bonus?

Dan

@R.J.:
You should get the points soon after completing the spending.

@Mosfo:
So call back in 5 days?

@Wonderin…:
There have been reports of getting the points again after 6 years, but the exact waiting period isn’t known.
