A few years ago I burned 25K United miles for 4 box seats to an Indians game. In middle of the game I got to run onto the field and literally steal 2nd base. As an die-hard Indians fan it was probably the coolest use of my miles ever. People around the stadium were shocked to see someone walking around with 2nd base. I got the base signed by several players, including the winning pitcher that night, and it hangs in my office today. It still has the Jacobs Field dirt on it.

That story inspired other DansDeals readers to use their miles for some amazing experiences as well.

Earlier this year I wrote about the ability to bid Starpoints to sing the National Anthem in Wrigley Field on 7/18 for the Mets Vs Cubs game. The crazy thing about that deal was that if you weren’t accepted to sing you got your points back and still got to go to the game in the SPG suite with kosher food available upon request.

SPG Moments allows you to use points for all kinds of neat experiences, and there are some awesome ones up for bid and instant redemption right now.

If you do go to Wrigley you can park near Milt’s for a delicious lunch (The Milt’s Burger, Rib Sandwich, and Brisket Chili are my favorite items) and then walk from there to the game. A DDF reader invited me along when he redeemed Starpoints for the entire SPG suite when the Yankees took on the Cubbies and we did that and even brought along the owner of Milt’s to our suite. The suite was catered with kosher food, but nobody ate any of it after feasting at Milt’s just beforehand!

Be sure to post a comment and a “trip report” if you win!

Dan in the process of telling everyone what a great deal we can get on these experiences, you pretty much guaranteed that the final bidding price will NOT be a good deal. how ironic

yuneeq

Change the title to Texas Rangers.
Biggest % of readership is from NY who will think its talking about NY Rangers.

eddie

Is there any rule against me throwing out the 1st pitch at Wrigley with my Mets jersey on??

Dan

@thenewguy:
@Ejb:
Or I can just not blog about anything.

@yuneeq:
Wrong context with 2 other baseball teams.

@eddie:
I doubt there’s a rule, but are you prepared to be booed?

Ted

Last year the softball team went for 300k.

Yossi

I’m having my kids take the field with the Cubs on 9/4 , its an unreal experience , I did it last year for only 12,000 points , this year its setting me back 27,500 , still worth every point !

Menachem White

Guess he was focusing on NYM fans interested in traveling.

Yos

Damn, just used up 40k starwood on Jetblue promo!

Michael H

Anyone want to include me on their softball team? 🙂
